What do you do with:
a toaster that no longer works?
a faulty vacuum cleaner?
a sweater with moth holes?
Bin it?
No way, repair it!

Vast numbers of broken items are needlessly thrown away when often a simple repair could give them a new lease of life.
At the Ravenshead Repair café skilled volunteers help to keep things working longer and saving us throwing things in the bin.
Repair Cafés are community events that match people who need stuff fixed with people who like fixing things.
Repair Cafés are completely non-commercial. There are no promises and no guarantees, but if something can be saved the repairers will give it their best efforts.
Repairers are always keen to teach you how to do the repair – or at least have you watch while they do it.
When?
The first Ravenshead Repair Café will be on:
Saturday, 11th July 2026
2pm - 5pm, last item accepted at 4pm
Following this first one, Repair cafés will take place on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
Where?
The Centre at St Peter’s,
55 Sheepwalk Ln,
Ravenshead,
Nottingham NG15 9FD
What?
You can basically bring anything* that you can carry and that will not make a mess in the venue. Here are some suggestions:
Bikes
Clothing
Small Electricals or Electronics
Lamps
Toys
Textiles
Percussion Instruments
Guitars
Tools that need sharpening
Items that need gluing, a clean or repair
Whatever it is*, it might not even be broken – just dirty, and you don’t know how to clean it without damaging it – or you can’t work out how to use it without the manual – bring it along. Bring anything* apart from microwaves, air fryers and CRT devices such as old-style televisions.
You can even bring more than one thing – though to be fair, we have limited each booking to one item, so please register each item separately.
Please bear in mind that not everything can be fixed, but we will do our best.
* Click here to read the House Rules before bringing your item to Repair Cafe.
Costs?
You just pay for any parts needed, plus a voluntary donation if you can.
There is no charge for entry or repair but donations are gratefully received and help pay for costs, please see our justgiving page link below:
Do you need to book?
Our Repair Café is new and we are trying different ways of running the day. Currently we are not pre-booking, there is no need to register, you can just turn up!
There may be a bit of a wait, but there will be drinks and snacks available and you can have a look round if you want to. We will give you a number so you don’t have to queue.
Click here for more information about what to expect at the repair cafe and why we do what we do.
Do you like fixing things or helping people?
We are seeking more repairers, so if you want to share your skills (whatever they are) we would love you to get involved! If you are good at fixing things and want to save stuff from being thrown away, we would love to hear from you.
We would also love to hear from you if you would like to volunteer in any other roles such as catering or working in the reception team to help make the events run smoothly.
